that with age becomes abundant with fruit and is well worthy of
consideration.
Rainforest pearl produces cylindrical, finger sized and shaped fruit,
predominately in autumn. The greenish mature skin of the fruit is blushed with
crimson and when sliced open it reveals a vault of glistening pearls ranging in
colour from soft pinks to champagne.
It is the pearls of the fruit that hold the essence of flavour, a sharp lime
flavoured juice. The skin and pulp are enriched with citrus oil and are also
used in culinary dishes. The fruit makes delightful marmalades and pickles.
The pearls are used to flavour and enhance gastronomic dishes.
The Finger Lime naturally grows in sub tropical costal areas as an under story
plant. It copes very well in dappled light but performs equally well if not
better in full sun. Although frost tolerant the tree enjoys a warm protected
situation.
Finger Lime is best kept pruned to which it responds very well. Rainforest pearl
performs beautifully in pots and is very well behaved in the garden.
Rainforest pearl is budded on to citrus rootstock this ensures it’s health, vigour
and its ability to produce abundant crops of fruit from an early age.
Rainforest pearl is budded, grown and available now from Eyles Citrus. |
